YOLO occupied the old Slim's space at 333 11th St in SoMa — an 8,000+ sq ft room with a proper artist stage, custom sound system, multiple LED panels, and leveled booth seating along the sides. It replaced a beloved 30-year live music institution and drew immediate backlash: the format was strictly DJ-only (EDM and Top 40), the social media presence attracted criticism for objectifying imagery, and a KQED reviewer who attended opening night described the music as "decidedly basic." The venue closed after roughly four years of operation, as confirmed by Yelp in June 2026.
YOLO is permanently closed as of 2026. When it operated, Friday and Saturday nights ran 10pm–2am; the crowd skewed younger and the vibe was straightforward DJ-driven club night with bottle service. Admission and table minimums were in line with mid-tier SoMa clubs. The room itself is a solid 8,000 sq ft with a real stage and good sound, inherited from Slim's.
YOLO Nightclub has a dress code to keep the environment stylish and upscale. Guests should wear fitted and fashionable clothes. Casual shoes like Chucks and Vans are allowed, but sportswear, beanies, baseball caps, shorts, and flip-flops are not. Sweats and athletic clothing are also not allowed.
