Temple sits at 540 Howard Street in SoMa, a multi-room club built around a Void Acoustics sound system and 50,000 addressable LED bulbs that cover the walls floor-to-ceiling. The main floor leans electronic — house, techno, EDM headliners — while the downstairs level, LVL 55, runs hip-hop and open-format with its own VIP tables and DJ booth. A rooftop Skyline Lounge opens seasonally for views of the SF skyline. The club was originally conceived in 2007 with a "greenest nightclub" ethos by founder Paul Hemming, then overhauled into its current more futuristic direction.
Friday and Saturday are the main nights, 10 PM until late. Expect a mixed crowd skewing younger, drawn by touring electronic acts upstairs and Bay Area hip-hop DJs below. Drink prices run high by SF standards, and the venue can feel overcrowded on peak nights — ventilation has been a repeated complaint in reviews. VIP bottle service is available; contact vip@templesf.com or 415-696-9512.
