Spybar is a 4,500 sq ft basement club on North Franklin Street in River North that has been running since 1995 — over 30 years as Chicago's underground house and techno anchor. The room is deliberately minimal: low ceilings, sparse decor, few tables, which pushes everyone onto the floor close to the booth. The sound system is the focus, not the aesthetics.
Expect a true dance-floor crowd rather than a see-and-be-seen room — minimal seating by design forces you onto the floor. Cover runs around $20 for men, often free for women. The club runs Fridays and Saturdays only, closing at 4am and 5am respectively, so it draws people serious about staying out late for the music.
