The Best Clubs in Indianapolis

12 picks, ranked13 venues coveredFree guestlists

Indy nightlife has been through a shakeout. Tiki Bob's closed in 2023, then Broad Ripple lost both Landsharks and the 40-year-old Casba by the end of 2024. What came out the other side is a tighter, better scene: the South Meridian strip downtown is the club core again, with a proper big-room nightclub, a no-dress-code house music dive, and a brand new honky-tonk all within two blocks.

The map breaks down simply. Downtown S Meridian is where you end the night, Mass Ave is where you start it, with cocktail rooms that flip into dance floors after 11. Broad Ripple still carries weight thanks to The Vogue, a 1938 movie house that has been a club since 1977, and Rock Lobster next door. Fountain Square handles the weird and wonderful, and the west side holds the Latin discoteca and the country saloon that locals actually drive to.

Practical notes: Indiana pours until 3am, and the rooms that matter run Friday and Saturday to close. Almost everything here is 21 and up. Cover is cheap by big-city standards, dress codes are mostly relaxed, and Wednesday is a real night out here, both at The Vogue's midweek dance party and 8 Seconds' line dancing. Check Instagram before you roll, the good rooms in this city announce everything there first.

FAQ

What time do clubs close in Indianapolis?

Indiana allows alcohol service until 3am, and the rooms that matter use it. INVY, Rock Lobster, Tini and Greg's all run to 3 on weekends. DUSK and most Mass Ave lounges wind down earlier, around 1am.

Is Broad Ripple still worth the trip after all the closures?

Yes, but it is a different strip now. Landsharks and the Casba both closed in 2024, so the night runs through The Vogue's dance parties and concerts, with Rock Lobster handling the late-night floor next door.

Where do I find house and EDM in Indy?

INVY on S Meridian books the national names, think Green Velvet and Markus Schulz. The Patron Saint two doors down runs house and techno weeklies with no cover pretension, and The Mousetrap covers the bass and dubstep end.

Do Indianapolis clubs have dress codes?

Mostly relaxed. The Patron Saint is explicitly dress-code-free, and jeans work almost everywhere including The Vogue and 8 Seconds. DUSK is the room worth dressing up for, and headliner nights at INVY skew sharper.

Are there 18+ nights?

Almost everything on this list is 21+, and The Vogue and White Rabbit enforce it at the door. Some ticketed concerts and select Latin nights at Chispas run different age policies, so check the specific event listing before you go.

What closed recently that I might still see on old lists?

Tiki Bob's Cantina closed in 2023. Landsharks closed in 2024 after a shooting, and the Casba poured its last drinks in December 2024 after 40 years. Skip any guide still recommending them.
