The East Village has never done bottle service well, and that is exactly the point. This is the neighborhood of ballrooms, basements and back rooms, where a 2,500-cap concert hall sits two blocks from a queer dive that still takes cash at the door. You can walk the whole circuit in fifteen minutes, which means the move here is never one club for the night. It is three or four rooms, in sequence, until 4am tells you to stop.
The turnover has been brutal lately, so burn your old bookmarks. Pyramid Club died in 2022 and its Avenue A address now belongs to Night Club 101, opened in January 2025 by the Baby's All Right crew and already name-checked by Lorde. The Bowery Electric shut in January 2026 after 17 years and reopened weeks later as Bowery Palace, same partners, new rooms. Webster Hall keeps anchoring the north end like nothing happened, and the deeper you go into Alphabet City, the weirder and better it gets.
A few ground rules. Every door in this neighborhood checks ID, even the divey ones, so carry a real one. Dance floors here flip around midnight, peak between 1 and 2am, and legal last call is 4am. Dress codes are basically nonexistent, sneakers are fine everywhere, and nobody is impressed by a blazer on Avenue C. Book tickets ahead for Webster Hall and Night Club 101 headliners; almost everything else you can walk into.

Both, and the line blurs after midnight. Webster Hall, Night Club 101, Nublu 151, DROM and Deluxx Fluxx are legitimate venues with sound systems and bookings. The rest of the scene is dance bars, basements and queer dives that behave like clubs from about 1am to 4am.
A lot. Pyramid Club closed in 2022 and its space became Baker Falls, which itself gave way to Night Club 101 in January 2025. The Bowery Electric closed in January 2026 and reopened as Bowery Palace that February. If a list still recommends any of the old names, close the tab.
Less than almost anywhere else in Manhattan. Most dance bars have no cover, ticketed shows at the real venues generally run 15 to 40 dollars depending on the booking, and drinks get cheaper the deeper you walk into Alphabet City. Bring some cash for the divier doors.
Live rooms start between 8 and 10pm. Dance floors flip around midnight and peak between 1 and 2am. Legal close in NYC is 4am and most of these rooms use every minute of it, so pace yourself accordingly.
For the bars, yes, and everyone gets carded, even at the dives. Webster Hall and some concert venues run shows with lower age limits, but for club nights across the neighborhood assume 21+ with a valid physical ID.
